Women in Travel: Portraits of Women Around the World
While I would love to say that gender, more importantly being feminine, doesn’t have the power to define certain aspects of travel, I’d be lying. When visiting new destinations, the topic of gender and solo women travel seem to be in some form, a constant. While this depiction is consistently being defined and shaped by male dominated forces, whether that be a country, a political party, the tourism industry or societies as a whole, I seem to have gained more insight into how extraordinary women are by visiting some countries where we may not always have the most equal of rights. While so many places try to erase individuality of…

Spectacular Things about 2017 Travel
It’s that time of year again, a yearly round up of the best moments of 2017 travel. The last week of December is always a good time for reflection on all of the highlights of the year, in addition to looking forward on plans to come for 2018. When I first started my blog it was a way for me to journal my journey and ever so slowly, five years later, it has been a way for me to share experiences, inspire others to see the world and maybe live a little less conventionally. Each year, I pull together a round up of moments I’m happily reminded of the rewards…

A Peru Trip: Philanthropy in Photography
The clanging on the metal door rang hard through the air, the knocking sound reverberated across the playground and presumably through the streets of a small bread-making town outside of Cusco. Little feet in worn shoes charged across the grass towards the door, taking turns letting in friends and then quickly returning to whatever game they were invested in, marbles, soccer, watering the garden, or playing in the sand. It seemed to be a repetitive task each afternoon, children in matching school uniforms spilling in after classes, the large rusty metal door as quickly as it closed would swing swiftly open, welcoming in dozens of kids each day. The program…

Where To Find The World’s Best Chocolate
Most of the “Top 10 Chocolates” or “Best Countries for Chocolate” have lists that are mostly made up of European countries like Italy, Belgium, France and Switzerland. While I’ve had some phenomenal chocolate in these countries, none of them made my list of places where I’ve come to find some of my tastiest confections. Since these high end chocolatiers are working with beans that come from a narrow region that flanks either side of the equator and the trees grow best in tropical weather, you won’t be seeing any of your fancy French chocolate made completely locally. So, where can you find some of the best chocolate? Much like a…

Peru on Wheels: Peru Hop Review
Don’t Be A Typical Tourist… There is so much more to Peru than Machu Picchu and the Instagram-made famous Rainbow Mountain. I challenge you to take some time out of your itinerary to explore a little more and find out how diverse and amazing Peru can be. I ended up taking a long weekend trip into Bolivia and then back into Peru, up the coast ending in Lima on Peru Hop, a bus company that specializes in taking tourists on set routes where they are in control of their own schedule. Seeing Peru on wheels, taking more public and sustainable transportation was a great choice for me to be able…
