The Ultimate List of the Best Museums in the World

World’s Best Museums  Visiting a new country can be exciting yet overwhelming experience.  There is art, culture, history, architecture, music, design and science that are all waiting to be learned and explored in cities and towns throughout the world.  A museum can provide a glimpse into local life, or provide education on a broader level. I think museums are a way to get a glimpse of the view of a country. Small, local museums even more-so, they show how they perceive themselves and the rest of the world. Get out to a museum near you, open your eyes and enrich your minds.  Doing some research to choose an interesting museum…

Singles Getaway: Best Destinations for Solo Travel

We see articles all the time that focus on romantic travel destinations, couples retreats and the ultimate honeymoon spots. This is NOT that list. As a solo traveler, I’m often asked about places that are safe for travel on your own. Safety is important, however, why aren’t you asking me about places that are fun to visit solo?! I’ve decided to compile a few recommendations for a singles getaway. Best Places to Get Over a Heartbreak Where to go to eat your break up away: Italy I know that people have romantic connotations when thinking of an Italian holiday, but hear me out. You can eat your weight in pasta…

18 of the World’s Best Beaches

The earth is made up of over 70% water and almost 95% of that water is made up of oceans. With all that surf and sand, there are countless choices of beaches and as a self proclaimed beach bum, I’ve encounter many. Here is a round up of 18 of the world’s best beaches according to Speck on the Globe. Zanzibar Wow. That may be the first and only exclamation you’ll need to describe this Tanzanian island. It’s totally unique with Swahili & Islamic influences that help to shape the spice trade routes from long ago. For the size there are dozens of sweet spots, don’t forget to spend some…

Where To Find The World’s Best Chocolate

Most of the “Top 10 Chocolates” or “Best Countries for Chocolate” have lists that are mostly made up of European countries like Italy, Belgium, France and Switzerland.  While I’ve had some phenomenal chocolate in these countries, none of them made my list of places where I’ve come to find some of my tastiest confections. Since these high end chocolatiers are working with beans that come from a narrow region that flanks either side of the equator and the trees grow best in tropical weather, you won’t be seeing any of your fancy French chocolate made completely locally.  So, where can you find some of the best chocolate?  Much like a…

    15 favorites of 2015

Ok, so it’s a good thing the years keep getting bigger in number because my opportunities and experiences keep getting better.  The end of the year is the best time for me to reflect on what I’ve worked for each year, and look back on the opportunities that make me feel the most thankful and happy. Up, up, up AND away in Myanmar, Spain AND Turkey The first 31 years of my life I had lived without stepping foot into a hot air balloon and just like that, I got the chance to take not one, not two, but three incredible rides.  Each overlooking a different landscape, iconic and unique…

Best of Bali: 8 Things to Love About Indonesian Island Life

Back to Bali.  I returned to Indonesia for the second time to visit a friend and get back to spending winter in my favorite place: Southeast Asia. I wanted to return and dig into the culture and the country to find out a little bit more after only scratching the surface the year before. It is easy to see why I had returned and I quickly remember what drew me here in the first place.  Here is a list of the best of Bali, and some of the many reasons you’ll continue to travel back to Indonesia year after year. Intriguing Religion Bali is an island of spirituality and its…

    Snapshot Sunday: Balinese Cockfight

Driving back to town one afternoon taking another way through a small village to get back to Ubud, we sped by a line of men, all sitting together with roosters in their laps.  It looked like they were all laughing, talking and enjoying the afternoon all the while sitting petting these chickens.  I immediately hopped out of the car, asked if I could take a photograph, everyone smiled and a few gave me the thumbs up.  I later learned from our driver that they are all grooming their specific birds for cock fighting, an event still practiced here in Bali today.

    My Favorite Moments of 2014

2014, what a whirlwind!  I had several one of a kind experiences this year and I think I spent a lot of time pinching myself making sure I wasn’t dreaming, exploring new places, meeting new friends and enjoying life has a way of seeming unreal.  It has been a treat to go through TONS of photos of the past year and I’ve collected a few to share some of the stand outs. My day as a Maltese falconer By far and away one of my more favorite memories of this year.  While in Malta I decided to take the Maltese Falcon story to the next level and go to the…
